Hi folks, Anyone out there have a tahini recipe? Yesterday I tried to make some with unhulled sesame seeds and cold-pressed sesame oil in my K-tec. It turned out okay, but I'll bet there's a better way. I had trouble getting it to turn over (I only had a cup and a third of seeds, though). Thanks!

emily18, Check out this site: www.ochef.com/235.htmIf raw is important to you, you can use sprouted sesame seeds which can simply be ground up...or just forego the sprouting. Tim

Thanks, Tim. I am into the raw aspect. I'll try your idea of soaking/sprouting the seeds. I'm just hoping using unhulled seeds would not make a butter that's too bitter. I've heard that that's the issue with unhulled seeds.

i found this recipe on goneraw.com. don't know if it has any better directions, but it has measurements! sounds yummy~ think i'm going to try this out for rawsagna tomorrow! i'll let you know how it goes~ our blender is semi-high-powered..... *** Raw Tahini! makes about 1 1/2 cups of tahini I always see recipes calling for tahini, but they always refer to the store-bought variety. I make my own all the time. You can use black or white sesame seeds. Here’s how: Ingredients ¾ cup raw sesame seeds, black or white, soaked in enough water to cover them, for about 30-40 minutes filtered water 2 tablesthingys olive oil pinch sea salt Preparation Blend soaked sesame seeds, with their water, olive oil and salt. Add filtered water until the tahini has reached the desired consistency. It is ready now for any recipe calling for tahini. If you plan to use it for a sweet recipe, omit the salt. If you have cold pressed sesame oil, use that instead of the olive oil.

Raw tahini, lemon's, mango's salt to taste, water/olive oil ....blend. You can use any fruit and it will come out great~ Cyd

I live in Egypt and this is how we prepare tahini..... add water, lemon juice, pressed garlic, salt. and cumin Stir....if too thick, add a bit more water.
