Here is a type of vitamin B12 that is available from Dr. Gabriel Cousens, M.D.'s website, www.treeoflife.nu. It is the best quality that i know of. Perque Activated B-12 Guard - 100 Lozenges PERQUE Activated B-12 Guard is in lozenge form for maximum uptake and optimal delivery to the brain. Studies on PERQUE Activated B-12 Guard lozenge formulation show nearly the same B-12 uptake as from injection. Patients notice that they feel better more quickly. Vitamin B-12 in our food supply is estimated to be 78% less than in the 1960s. Diet alone is hard pressed to provide the necessary levels of this important nutrient. In addition, stress and reduced hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor production in the stomach impair absorption. The most commonly used forms of B-12 require activation in the body, making uptake quite low, rarely more than 50%. PERQUE delivers vitamin B-12 in its superior, activated hydroxocobalamin form. Although it is more expensive and difficult to obtain, hydroxocobalamin lasts longer and raises B-12 blood concentrations higher than other forms. For this reason, it is the only form PERQUE uses. Hydroxocobalamin requires no intrinsic factor and is taken up directly by mucous membranes regardless of digestive competence. Weight 0.30 lbs (shipping weight, not product weight) Price: $24.95 I hope this may be helpful to someone. Many Blessings, Photon

I have read that hydroxycobalamin is not the best form of the B12. It is absorbed, yes, but then most of it is eliminated again, because the body can not make that much use of it. The best form of B 12 is methylcobalamine, that is the form the body can actually use.

Thank you, dandelion.
I am not an expert on this.
Do you know of a really good source of information.
I think highly of Dr. Cousens, so i added it.
I think it is important.

PERQUE is a very high quality and well researched company. Maybe it is excreted because your body used what it needed. All b vitamins are excreted when not needed. Also, ask PERQUE the difference between the two, they may be able to clarify. Hope this helps you make a decision.

Is there a NATURAL source of vitamin B12 that is not a pill? I would like to know what fruit or vegetable contains B12? Thanks for any help!

Myriam, I don't think that Fruits and Vegetables "naturally contain" B12. They can have, on their surface, bacteria that, once inside of us, produce the vitamin; but they are usually "washed off" before eating. B12 is a vitamin that is produced by bacteria in our intestines. Some people probably have the bacteria inside of them that produce the vitamin, but that is not guaranteed. Hence, either supplements or animal products are "recommended." Diary (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc) has B12 if you are not against using these foods. While not a "medical encyclopaedia," wikipedia has a good article about B12 that is easy to read and understand. Here is the web address: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12Hope this helps. Hi. Spirulina and maca contains B12. And you also got it if you can grow your own food, and don't wash it. Or pick berries. Or you can do as David Wolfie, eat some ants And (not known to many) if you have an active sexlife, you can easily get as much B12 as you need.... ;D big hug.

The best source of Vitamin B12 is squirrel meat.
Nothing eats a better diet than a squirrel from our perspective. Their diet consists entirely of nuts and seeds. By their very nature, nuts and seeds are pesticide free and artificial fertilizer free.
No one feeds chemicals to squirrels.
They are delicious too.
Now I've grossed you out haven't I?
