:DThe committment I made to have 2 green smoothies a day has really helped in my increased energy to stay with this challenge and after the challenge is over. I recommend them to everyone wanting to change their habits. I LOVED junk foods until I started the green smoothies. Now, I don't crave junk and when I do FORCE myself (out of habit) to indulge, I immediately feel crapy. So, thanks for this challenge. It's really helping me and my husband.

We cannot go wrong with green smoothie. The benefits are unbelievable! I don't miss a day! Have you tried persimmon in the green smoothie? It's creamy and delicious!

Anyone willing to post their green smoothie recipes? Are you juicing or blending? I don't have a juicer, but I do have a Vita Mix. But I'm wondering about what the texture will be like? I don't want a stringy smoothie!

roontoo and all:
I make one with the following ingredients:
1) three bananas 2) about 3 - 4 cups of fresh pineapple 3) one half to one cup frozen blueberries or black berries 4) six or seven romaine lettuce leaves 5) half cup or so of organic soy milk. (I suppose one could simply use water.)
Admittedly, before I put the berries in it, it tasted like a banana-pineapple milk shake with lettuce in it...the berries overwhelmed that flavor and made it quite tasty and creamy.
By the way, I just have a blender (my "ex" got the VitaMix - sigh) and the smoothie came out just fine in terms of the texture.

Hi tonjua37,
gotta mention another real cool benefit of green smoothies that I have personally noticed (when they are consumed diligently) ... my grey hairs grow back their normal colour ... yeah, bring it on!!!

I've heard alot about the green smoothies, this is my first time to try one. To be honest I'm having a hard time getting myself to do it, but I really want to. Any good tips?

Kim,
Make a fruit smoothie and put in couple of lettuce or spinach or kale leaves...start with small amounts so that you don't lose the fruity flavors...

I drink a quart of green smoothie every morning ! I love it and when I don't have one I miss it! This morning I made one with 2 cups water, a pear, 3 leaves swiss chard, handful dandelion, handful strawberries, couple pieces of pineapple and 1/2 frozen banana. I also always throw in some maca powder, cacoa nibs and goji berries.
Good luck!

My silver hair is also growing back brown VERY noticeably. It is almost all brown now. I also eat a lot of sea veggies and spirulina.
We are into amazing stuff here.

Hey Inorbit,, I don't really like bananas in my green smoothies (I have 3 most days). Check out the posts on the topic 'What ingredients do you use in your smoothies?' There are loads of delicious ideas there, many based on things other than banana. I recommend either basing it on citrus or apples/ pears. Mangoes are very nice but I find pineapple a bit strange - other people swear by it though. Just pick your favourite fruit and blitz with a few leaves, some water and try it. Berries and stuff sometimes need a bit extra sweetness, so you just add apples, pears or citrus, and if your oranges aren't sweet, use some carrot juice instead of water. I've never got round to trying melon yet but I bet it's very sweet and refreshing. 21daychallenge.proboards91.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1201069484

Green Smoothie Recipe
No juicer needed. I use a blender. Not even a Vitamix.
2 cups of spinach or any green leafy material. I use spinach because its not bitter One handful of fruit ( your choice) I use frozen if not in season 1 banana I also add liquid chlorella (very green in color) I also add ground flax seed Blend and drink. Awesome
Its very green in color depending on how many greens you use. If you can get past the color, the taste is sweet usually. The texture is thicker because you get the pulp and everything, but it is not so thick it is hard to drink. I have also added fresh juiced fruits in before. I have also added other veggies as well. You will have to adjust the fruits accordingly. Tried kale and cabbage in with the original recipe. Makes it more bitter and greener tasting.
This smoothie is how I got into the whole raw scene. Not 100% raw yet, but working my way there. Enjoy.
Warning...your waste by-products will be green. lol

Hey guys. Posted a green smoothie recipe and forgot to add the water to it. 2 cups then blend and enjoy. Sorry for the deletion.
