Thank you, ossiorava. I am fascinated by what you are doing.
I also recommend a book by Sandor Katz called 'Wild Fermentation.'
He has aids and was very sick and broke the taboo that folks with aids should not eat fermented food and got really healthy and strong. I took a workshop with him. He is very inspiring, and very healthy and strong.
Who knows what other mysteries are hidden by taboos.

We drink green smoothies for breakfast everyday in our house as well. We were taught to vary the greens, but to definitely use fresh greens. My favorite greens are organic cilantro and different kinds of kale (from my garden-- some grows here all winter, although lately they are probably frozen out-- Vancouver Island). If you don't vary the greens you can actually develop a level of toxicity... that sounds unbelievable when we are talking organic greens, but that is what Victoria Boutenko, the Diva of Green Smoothies, mentioned at a speak of hers we were at. She suggests that we use the goat as a model. The goat goes about nibbling a little here and a litter there, not spending the whole day eating a specific green until its gone (I think that sheep do that-- are they less healthy than goats I wonder... sorry, I diverge). We use a lot of fresh pineapple, but are also quite taken by lots of other fruits. We recently came across organic mangos at SAFEWAY (for any Canadians) which means the supermarkets are becoming more sensitive to the organic vegan movement-- however, we still prefer to buy at our smaller health food store that buys much of its organic produce locally (therefore it is fresher and supports our local economy). I have a free smoothie newsletter with a different green smoothie recipe in it each week for anyone who wants to sign up. Just go to Smoothie Moves to sign up or you can find it advertised on my Raw Genesis site at rawgenesis.comOur 2-year old granddaughter loves green smoothies,so they are a healthy food that has caught on across the generations!
